A Wonderful Legacy

I am so thankful for my family. I have a wonderful heritage. I remember going to Uncle Pete's funeral and feeling the holy ghost so strong. It reminded me of my baptism, the special feeling I felt at my family's church. I know that because of family members like Aunt Mary and Uncle Pete I am very blessed. I always looked at their example with their family and was able to preserve through anything. Aunt Mary wrote a wonderful book with a special excerpt I would like to share (below, also here is the link). Another link  that is interesting to read is for Uncle Pete's obituary!! God bless!!

I am also very thankful for the Obama administration. I was very blessed to be part of a special family that has been able to help in politics at various times. I know that as we serve we are blessed. I do not know how to express my thankfulness for those who serve. I have always been impressed by the Obama administration. I love that the first lady is so fashionable and sweet and kind. She has been able to uplift and inspire so many women. I feel she helped me also during a time in my life when I was single for the fist time since I was 18. I was engaged at 18 years old and had 4 children by the time I was 26. I wanted to live up to the tradition of people like Aunt Mary and Uncle Pete and my wonderful grandparents. Years later I understood that although I had the best of intentions while I stayed home and had children, my spouse (back then) decided to go down a path I would not have suspected for him to go down. It was not until after I had my children that I realized this. We were very young and I understand that God had a different plan for me. It is the love of this administration that I felt many times during those first hard years. I am very grateful. I also am thankful for President Obama. I know that he busted through so many barriers for our American Family. He was the first African American president. I have always felt like a minority in many different ways as I have some strong Native American attributes in my family heritage from Cherokee ancestors. I also am LDS which can be different at times, since there are not as many members of my specific church (especially where I live now). I felt a deep love for others that seemed to have a barrier lifted as he came into office. I also loved his education ideas for the stay at home mother. I stayed at home until my children were starting high school. I needed to finish my education and found many extra grants and things because of some of the work he did for people in my income level, raising a family alone. I raised my children without there Dad showing up except for under ten days a year for five straight years and went to school!! I believe in education because I now have a wonderful teaching career and without the help from grants during these specific years Obama was in office I wouldn't have been able to graduate. I am now in graduate school working on a degree to teach in foreign countries. I love it!! Lastly, I love that this great family is truly Christian. Religion is a very important part of my life daily. I know that there family restored our nation when it comes to treating one another with kindness and having a deep sense of moral obligation and responsibility. Although, I am very conservative, our family was blessed personally in many ways to reconsider something,

PEACE and JOY

TRUTH!!!!!

The above link is from my English Professor at University of Wisconsin. I loved going to school and discussing different eras in English. For some reason this video has remained with me since grad.
I really still hope for world peace every day, because life is worth it.

I know that this is true, we are blessed as a family, by the legacy of my Uncle ( mentioned above), the legacy of family members that have served in both political parties and those in the armed forces and also those who dedicate their lives to learning and education. Thank you family, for working so hard, through your example I can only hope to learn and grow and achieve my own personal successes in life.
