Lake Harriet

The girls and I went for a fun trip in downtown Minneapolis. We've made many trips here since I was a little girl. When I was little I remember thinking about how many Minnesotan's were out around the lake soaking up the sun. Little did I know they were out of hibernation period and enjoying every last minute of the summer that they could. Honestly, it's one of the reasons I moved here. I've always admired that fact that the people here indulge in each season. Enjoying whatever part of it they can get. In the summer... people are out. Not like Arizona where everyone stays in. Anyway... this day was like any other MN day at the lake. Lot's of people and lakes and beach side playing.
This is Abigail at the "bread shop" where the girls each loaded up on their free slice of bread and butter. Can't beat free.

Katie at the best book store ever, The Wild Rumpus, they actually have live animals running all over the place... including chickens. It's really fun but I feel bad for the owners.:)

The Rose Gardens. I called my Mom up to tell her we went down to Lake Harriet since she grew up a mile down the road from this area. She asked right away about the garden. The girls loved it and had to smell almost every single rose in it. While I was fidgeting around with my camera all three of them decided to grab a good handful or two of rose petals. Aaahhh. I thought stuff like that wasn't supposed to happen at this age!

How can you ever get that mad at cute girls like these?

The remainder of the day was spent lakeside. The girls had ice cream cones, fed the ducks popcorn and hung out with friends.
We took a quick peek on the way out at my Mom's old house... still standing. It was fun to think about the fact that she would ride her bike down with her siblings to do all of the same stuff we did that day. I called her up on the way home to tell her about it, she told me she remembered spending a summer down there hunting for turtles every day. I guess we will have to go back soon and for some turtle hunting. :)
